International Journal of Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence (IJMLAI) involves several key steps to ensure the quality and integrity of the published research. Here’s a detailed review process outline:
Review Process
1. Submission and Initial Screening
- Manuscript Submission: Authors submit their manuscripts through the journal's online submission system. The submission should include all required documents, such as the manuscript, abstract, figures, and references.
- Initial Screening: The editorial team performs an initial screening to assess the manuscript’s adherence to submission guidelines, relevance to the journal’s scope, and overall quality. Manuscripts that do not meet basic requirements or fall outside the scope of the journal are returned to authors without further review.
2. Editorial Review
- Assignment to Associate Editor: The manuscript is assigned to an Associate Editor with expertise in the relevant field. The Associate Editor conducts a preliminary review to evaluate the manuscript’s originality, significance, and methodological rigor.
- Decision: Based on the preliminary review, the Associate Editor decides whether to proceed with the peer review process, request revisions, or reject the manuscript.
3. Peer Review Process
- Reviewer Selection: If the manuscript passes the preliminary review, the Associate Editor selects multiple peer reviewers with relevant expertise. The number of reviewers typically ranges from 2 to 4. Reviewers are chosen based on their background, experience, and lack of conflicts of interest.
- Review Invitation: Reviewers are invited to evaluate the manuscript. They are provided with guidelines on the review criteria, including originality, significance, methodology, clarity, and relevance to the journal.
- Review Completion: Reviewers assess the manuscript and submit their detailed feedback, including recommendations for revision, acceptance, or rejection. The review process generally takes 2 to 4 weeks, depending on the availability and responsiveness of the reviewers.
4. Review Evaluation and Decision
- Compilation of Reviews: The Associate Editor compiles the feedback from all reviewers and prepares a summary of comments and recommendations.
- Decision Making: The Associate Editor makes a decision based on the reviewers’ feedback and their own evaluation. The possible decisions are:
- Accept: The manuscript is accepted for publication without any further revisions.
- Minor Revisions: The manuscript requires minor revisions based on the reviewers’ feedback. The authors are given a specific timeframe to address the revisions.
- Major Revisions: The manuscript requires substantial revisions. Authors are given detailed feedback and a timeframe for resubmission.
- Reject: The manuscript is rejected if it does not meet the journal’s standards or if the issues raised by the reviewers cannot be satisfactorily addressed.
5. Revisions and Resubmission
- Author Revisions: If revisions are requested, the authors revise their manuscript according to the feedback provided by the reviewers. Revised manuscripts are resubmitted for further evaluation.
- Re-review: Revised manuscripts may be sent back to the original reviewers or new reviewers for additional evaluation, depending on the extent of the revisions.
6. Final Decision and Publication
- Final Review: The Associate Editor reviews the revised manuscript and the reviewers’ feedback on the revisions. A final decision is made regarding acceptance or rejection.
- Copyediting and Proofreading: Accepted manuscripts undergo copyediting and proofreading to ensure clarity, consistency, and adherence to the journal’s style guidelines.
- Publication: Once finalized, the manuscript is scheduled for publication. Authors receive a proof of their article for final approval before it is published online and/or in print.
7. Post-Publication
- Feedback and Corrections: Post-publication, the journal may address any corrections or updates as needed. Authors may be contacted for clarifications or additional information.
- Monitoring Impact: The journal monitors the impact of published articles, including citation metrics and reader engagement, to assess the relevance and influence of the research.
This review process ensures that manuscripts published in IJMLAI meet high standards of quality, relevance, and scientific rigor, contributing to the advancement of knowledge in the field of machine learning and artificial intelligence.
